Northern PA, NY
Too soon for frosty mornings?

Northern Pennsylvania and northern New York had overnight and early morning temperatures down into the low to mid-30s, prompting frost advisories from the National Weather Service.

It's officially Meteorological Autumn, and we expect to see leaf colors changing, cooler temperatures on the TemperatureRadar, and more seasonal warm drinks being served at cafes. Additionally, this brings the gradual end of the gardening season as the temperatures drop and frost begins to form, just as was advised in northern New York and northern Pennsylvania early Tuesday morning.

Frost in northern New York is typical for early September. Saranac Lake, under the frost advisory this morning, typically has its first frost around September 2nd—right on schedule then.

For northern Pennsylvania, like in Bradford, the first frost usually occurs between September 1st through September 10th, also right on time should frost be officially reported.

Next up should be northern Maine! Normally, North Dakota is getting its first frost right about now too, but temperatures are in the warm 60s Tuesday and Wednesday morning thanks to an influx of heat. Check the TemperatureRadar and your local forecast to know when these cooler temperatures are on the way!
