It's been quite a few wet days across the Southeast, especially for the Carolinas where the drought has been worsening. Will it help it?

The Carolinas have been experiencing a worsening drought in the last few weeks. But in the last week, there has been a constant stream of thunderstorm activity due to a stagnant weather pattern. As several low pressures and stationary fronts meander by, there will still be a few more days until the pattern moves out.

Expect around 3 more inches to fall, generally across the Carolinas through much of the weekend, with some isolated spots receiving higher amounts. Make sure to avoid flooded roads and track the storms in our WeatherRadar. It won't be until the latter part of the weekend when a high pressure system builds over the Southeast, limiting the showers and thunderstorms to coastal areas, mainly due to locale effects.

We won't know until next Thursday, August 1, if these last batch of rains will put a real notable dent in the drought and bring relief. Our team of meteorologists will continue to bring you updates about the drought and how it is affecting locals.
