April heatwave - A.C. workout for the East

April is known for bringing spring showers and cool temperatures, comfortable enough for open windows. But a summer-like heatwave is giving those air conditioners an early run.

High-temperature records as old as 130 years are on the chopping block on Wednesday as highs head into the 80s and 90s from the Midwest to the East Coast.

Washington, D.C., and New York City will be hotter than Miami on Wednesday and Thursday, about 20 to 30 degrees warmer than average for this time of year.

The TemperatureRadar shows the hottest of the heat bubble shifting east through the latter half of the week, but it will take a strong weekend cold front to bring the thermometer back down to average temperatures.
